Introducing Annie B!

History has never looked quite like this!

This original illustration found only at Thyme and Tale reimagines the famously bold Anne Boleyn with a modern twist. Known for her sharp mind, striking style, and complicated story within the court of Henry VIII, Anne remains one of the most fascinating and admired figures of the Tudor era.

In this piece, she trades stiff royal portraiture for a little attitude, lowering a pair of tinted pink sunglasses with a knowing look that says she’s fully aware of the drama swirling around the Tudor court. Behind her stands the iconic Tower of London, a place forever linked to her story, while the cheeky banner below reminds us all: “Be Not a Peasant.”

I love blending historical subjects with a playful, slightly rebellious twist. It’s a way of bringing the past into the present and reminding us that history is full of real personalities, intrigue, and a little bit of sass.

If you enjoy artwork that mixes history, humour, and vintage-inspired illustration, you can find more pieces like this on my website, along with behind-the-scenes sketches and new designs shared regularly across my social media. New historical characters (and a few mischievous surprises) are always on the way.

Because sometimes the past deserves a little attitude.
